<p>I just received a cool bouquet of blooms this evening as I was coming home from the gym. The delivery truck was pulling out of the driveway as I was pulling in.  I thought to myself, &#8220;this guy is lost&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>But he saw me pull in, so he stopped and followed me into the driveway. At that point I thought this was one of those creeps that stalks women and kills them while making deliveries. So I was planning out my best kick boxing moves so that if he tried anything, he was toast!</p>
<p>&#8220;Elizabeth Herman?&#8221; he asked.</p>
<p>I was dumbstruck. Nobody calls me by that name.  Except my college roommate from back when I weighed almost 350lbs. I had lost track of her after college and when I went into the hospital, she was the only one who sent me flowers. Now here was the 10 year anniversary of that incident, and she had sent me flowers.</p>
<p>I signed for them with big tears in my eyes and went inside. I could not believe that Veronica (Vera) Sanchez was thinking of me! So I opened up the card that was in the flowers and I saw the phone number in there, and the VS initials&#8230;</p>
<p>After pulling myself together I called Vera. We talked till 3AM, and laughed about some of the old times that we remembered. It was one of those occasions that made such a difference in my life&#8230; and I asked Vera what made her think of that date&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8220;I almost lost my best friend on that day, so I made sure I would never forget. I set up the event reminder system that the florist has. They remind me of all my birthdays, anniversaries and even special dates that I never want to forget.&#8221;</p>

<p><strong>Eating after you exercise</strong> is just as important as your pre workout meal.  Anytime you exercise, whether its cardio or resistance, you deplete energy in the form of glycogen.  The brain and CNS rely on glycogen as their primary source of fuel, so if you don&#8217;t replace it after you exercise, your body will begin to break down muscle tissue into amino acids, and then convert them into usable fuel for the brain and the central nervous system.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that mostly during <strong>resistance exercise</strong>, you&#8217;ll break down muscle tissue by creating micro tears.  What this signifies, is that after a workout, your muscles will instantly go into repair mode.  Protein is the key here for muscle repair, as you don&#8217;t want muscle breaking down even further to create fuel instead of lost glycogen.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ll need protein as this happens to build and repair these tears so that the muscle can increase in size and strength.  The carbs will not only replace the lost muscle glycogen, but will also help the protein get into muscle cells so it can synthesize into structural protein, or the muscle itself.</p>
<p>After your resistance exercise, you should wait up to 30 minutes before you eat, so that you won&#8217;t take blood away from your muscles too fast.  The blood in your muscles will help the repair process by removing the metabolic waste products.</p>
<p>Never lie down or stop moving completely immediately following any type of workout, you should have a cooling off period where you walk or bicycle for a few minutes at a slow pace. This helps get oxygen back into your muscles and pull the waste products out. If you notice cramping after a workout, it is usually because your muscles are starving for oxygen.</p>

<p><strong>&#8220;Have you seen the guy who lives here?&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>I went over to Eddie&#8217;s place yeterday and I saw someone in the yard mowing the grass, when I pulled around to the back of his house.  I knocked and nobody answered. Dang. I really needed to talk to Eddie, so I went around to the front yard and asked the guy mowing, &#8220;Hey, have you seen the guy who lives here?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;What are you talking about? This is me!&#8221; said the guy, when I saw from his facial features that he really was Eddie! But he looked like a much smaller Eddie!</p>
<p>&#8220;What the heck happened to you?&#8221; I blurted out before I could stop myself. Eddie had me follow him into the house. He opened up his laptop, then he opened up a report and he let me read it while he went outside and turned off his lawn mower.</p>
